Open House Tomorrow!

Hello everyone!  Tomorrow night is Open House at Pine Glen.  I always look forward to this opportunity to meet the parents of our fabulous Pine Glen students.  Please feel free to stop by the Music Room and say hello!  Fourth and Fifth grade parents can drop off their child’s recorder in the marked boxes at the back of the room.

I look forward to meeting you!

Calling all 4th and 5th Graders…Bring in your recorders!

A Note From Music

4th and 5th graders should bring their recorders in from home for use in music class activities.  Please make sure your recorder is labeled with the student’s name.  I will have a box to store the recorders for each classroom in the music room.  They will remain in the music room until the end of the year when they will be returned to each student to bring home.

Thank You!
Mrs. Agati

P.S. Open House would be an ideal time to drop off your recorder in the music room!

Black out music

Even though we had no power at Pine Glen this morning, we were still able to make some beautiful music! Here is a video of some 5th graders playing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” on Boomwhackers, tone chimes, and drums. Right now there is only melody and rhythm, next week we add harmony (chordal accompaniment)!

Enjoy!

Welcome Back!

Welcome back to another fantastic year of music at Pine Glen School! After being home for a maternity leave, I was really excited to return to school and begin the new school year.  Just like in past Septembers, we came out of the gate running. The 5th grade has already put together a fabulous performance at the Heroes Assembly that took place on September 11th.  It was wonderful to be able to say thank you to our local police officers, and firefighters, as well as pay tribute to the memory of Thomas McGuiness in such a beautiful and heartfelt way.  Thank you to the 5th graders for such a fantastic performance on the sixth day of school!

I am currently in the process of updating this blog with as much new information as possible.  The Important Dates page has already been updated with the concert dates for this year so be sure to mark those on your calendars! The Composer of the Month page is currently under construction and I will continue to add resources to these pages as the year goes on.  I am also preparing a post of my favorite Ipad apps for music, so that you can improve your music skills on your portable devices.  Also be on the lookout for posts of student work which should begin appearing within the next week or so.

All in all I am looking forward to a great year, and I can’t wait to share it with you!
