Room 107 learned the song “Jack-o-lantern”, and then added xylophones, glockenspiels, finger cymbals, claves and stirring xylophones to create a full musical composition! Here is a video of their performance!

Pine Glen School Song
I was recently asked if i would post the Pine Glen School song here on the blog. My answer was “Yes and I should have done it sooner!!!” Here are the lyrics that are sung to the tune of “This Old Man”.

The song was written as part of a contest that I held for the fifth graders in 2009. They all worked in groups to write a parody song showing their pride for Pine Glen. Christina Daniels, Rachel Homer, Nanina Joyce, and Abigail Richard were the students who penned this winning entry that we have been singing ever since!
Room 205: The Halloween Song

The Canoe Song room 213
Yesterday room 213 finished and performed a composition using ostinatos (short repeated patterns). First they learned The Canoe Song, then we added a rhythmic ostinato on the drums. The next class we added two melodic ostinatos, one played on the recorder and another on xylophone. Finally we played all the parts together and sang the song! Here is a video of the result!
